If you couldn't tell, I'm excited to see this movie. While I liked Raimi's first two movies, I never felt like they got the characterizations right.

I'm hoping Webb's movie can do that. And I know many people have complained about doing the origin story again in a movie after 10 years, but...if you've watched or read enough Spider-Man movies, cartoons, or comics, you're pretty used to it. Me, I've read it in Amazing Fantasy 15, Ultimate Spider-Man volume 1, and Spider-Man Season One (a recent comic not unlike Batman: Year One) and I've seen it in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Raimi's Spider-Man movie, and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Six times and I'm not even sick of it. I don't mind a different take on it from Raimi's.

Anyway, despite liking Raimi's first two, I welcome this movie with an open mind. I'm seeing it later tonight/early tomorrow morning at the midnight showing.

Will it make Spidey feel better if we tell him that you don't have a Gwen Stacy figure, but she'll be replaced by Buffy?

I was never real thrilled with Tobey and absolutely hated Kirsten Dunst. That said, Raimi got some things REALLY right. THe costume, and all the daylight. Spidey belongs in the sun, swinging during the day. This one looks to have too much Dark knight - the whole thing looks like it takes place at night. I'm liking Garfield better though and I want to see Gwen used properly. Putting her in as a throwaway in the last movie was a shame. I'm also so very tiered of MJ being retconed into Peter's High School years.

I agree with you for the most part. I wasn't too bothered by him only swinging around at night. I mean, I thought about it, but it didn't detract from the movie.

As for his costume...my only problem with Raimi's version is that it looks way too professional. Even though Webb's version looks different, it looks way more homemade in the movie. That was plus for me. I mean, it didn't look shoddy, but it didn't look like too complicated for a broke high school kid.
