As I was saying Wednesday, I put off my Man of Steel comic and this is why. I was waiting for the figures to come in the mail.

I saw the movie Monday and quite frankly, I liked it. I thought Michael Shannon did a superb job as General Zod.

Now, I'm not much of a fan of Superman and the film seemed to do away with several of the reasons I don't like Superman.

1. He's too much of a boy scout--I felt they evened him out in the movie.

2. Movies and TV shows rely too heavily on Lex Luthor--He was absent from this film.

3. Superman is too overpowered--Superman was fighting other Kryptonians so it worked.

4. Overuse of Kyrptonite--It wasn't even mentioned in this movie.

I did feel like his childhood was a bit rushed. I think if they had trimmed down the Kyrpton scene at the beginning, they could've evened out the flashbacks, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

The only reference to Lex that I saw in the movie was that one of the trucks(?) they throw at Superman during a fight scene had "Lexcorp" on the side. Next movie, perhaps?

Also, I think they tried to make "I WILL FIND HIM!!" the new "kneel."

The last really good Superman film was Superman II. It's taken them 28 years, but Superman's directors finally got it right again.
Interestingly, both of these films had Zod in them.
